After reading all of the Timeless Fairy Tales, I was so excited to learn about Angelique from her early days. This book does not disappoint!If you haven't read any of the Timeless Fairy Tales series, no worries! This book starts before any of them. You are right at the beginning!This book starts just as Angelique is finishing her schooling, and must be approved to become an apprentice, or be disgraced and have her magic torn away from her forever. Angelique struggles with her magic, believing what so many have told her -- her magic is dangerous, and therefore can only be used for death. Can Enchanter Evariste, the master who takes her on as an apprentice, teach her that her magic can be a force for good?Filled with both glimpses of people you know and love from the future, and exciting new stories and characters, this thrilling book will not disappoint!

Finally! I have been waiting for Angelique's story almost from book 1 in the Timeless Fairy Tales series. I was not disappointed at all. I stayed up far too late reading this last night. And it ended! I know the story is too big for one book, but I want the rest now. On the plus side, I have time to reread the first 12 books while waiting for the next one to come out in April.It was so much fun to read about Angelique and Evariste from the beginning of their student/teacher relationship. And I loved the inclusion of all the extra side fairy tales, like Goldilocks and the Emperor's New Clothes. It will be interesting to reread the previous books with this new knowledge of Angel's character and prior experiences.

First off, I wish April wasn't so far away! I want book 2, and 3, now!Only a very few minor spelling/grammatical errors.Angelique is full of spitfire and fear. She is clever, but broken inside. She has reservations, but also doesn't want to give up. Her story is a good one, and slightly parallels the Snow Queen's as far as her feelings about her magic goes.I enjoyed seeing how her magic training progressed, and how certain characters and plots from other stories in the Timeless Fairytales series were brought in.**SPOILER**It almost seems there is a disconnect with the timing of this book and some of the others in the Timeless Fairytales series, namely the discovery and training of Stil, and when he makes Master Craftmage before the events in Rumplestiltskin. I'll just have to read everything again (oh such a chore! <-- that was sarcasm in case you couldn't figure it out).I have a feeling there are members of the Veneno Conclave, to include committee members and even the Headmaster of the school, who are part of the black mage group. Some of them seem too shady to be good guys.The testing area for magic needs to be explored more in another series, perhaps Ms. Shea has something brewing in her brilliant head already? It was quite a big thing to drop in reader's laps without any prior mention or reasoning behind it. Leaving it as just something that was always used, even before the Snow Queen's time, makes it almost a cop-out in the storytelling.Overall, I very much enjoyed this book, and am eagerly awaiting the next one, which I imagine will coincide with the 11 books of the Timless Fairytales series. Now is a good time to re-read them so that I am ready for Fairy Tale Enchantress #2.

I just finished and there is a second part!!!!! I seriously feel like I'm dying! This ends right where the timeless fairy tales begins. My guess is the next book is Angelique's story through that serries. I loved seeing Evarste fall in love with her. I was alittle annoyed that she never noticed and can't wait for her to realise that she loves him. I think she is already in love with him, but because of all that is going on and the fact she wasnt looking for romance she is just clueless about it. Lol I loved how she thinks he is part mad because of the unwanted attention he pays her 😂 Enjoyed seeing characters from timeless fairy tales in this, especially Stil.There are extras on K.M. Shae's website for those of you who want to read more!

Spoilers ahead...I’ve loved Angelique for so long through the other characters’ stories. I’ve felt and identified with her pain, fears, self doubt, frustration, anger and even bitterness. And I love that we’ve gotten to finally meat Evariste. Im just not totally sold on how he treats Angelique. It’s almost predatory and not right from his position of power especially with her very obvious discomfort and wish that he wouldn’t do the things he does or touch her the way he does. I understand that the awkwardness of the position of power is the point and is supposed to show the evolution of Evariste falling in love (and even Angelique), but as these books are female empowering, I would have liked to have read a story that doesn’t infringe upon Angelique’s right to a safe learning environment free from harassment. That being said, I still eagerly await the next few books.

This story was amazing and although I spent most of the day reading it instead of doing anything grown up and responsible, I couldn't believe when it was over. Despite knowing some of the events that would happen due to the interconnection with the Timeless Fairytales, I still felt the full emotional impact and there were plenty of surprises. My head is just spinning with all the theories I'm dying to know the answer to. April can't come soon enough!

The high ratings, rave reviews, and the premise of the book is what initially drew me to purchase this book. I'm usually not a fan of first POV, but it's not often you come across a book that has a dual POV from the heroine and the hero. The dual POV makes for an interesting story and adds another layer of distinctiveness.The story takes place outside of Taos, New Mexico. The author does an incredible job of describing the desert and the environmentally friendly unique home that our main characters stay in. Durano paints such a beautiful vivid description of the New Mexico desert. I would often take a break from the story and Google the places that were described!However the first person POV - didn't work. Harlow's internal monologue was too long and some of the lines were cheesy;"Does Dax know just how handsome he is?Does he realize just how the chiseled lines of his jaw are even more defined by a beard that’s trimmed so perfectly, making this woman’s stomach tighten in knots?Is he aware just how his mouth begs to be kissed again, for me to toss every ounce of self-respect left in me out the window and just take what I can?"Dax's POV wasn't believable. It didn't feel like you were reading from a male perspective even with the swear words and talk of his male anatomy whenever he was around Harlow. I never understood why female authors think that the only way to make it a believable alpha male POV is to have them swear and talk crudely. There were too many lines that felt like it was a female talking rather than a male. It was hard to immerse yourself in the story when the dialogues felt contrived and awkward. The dialogue and storyline didn't flow, it felt forced.This could have been a great story because of the premise, but it fell short. However that's just my opinion.

This was the first book I'd read from this author and I have to say that I am happy to have found another good one. The storyline was well written, although a few times repetitive with description of certain aspects involved, it didn't hinder the effects of the story. The premise is a second chance of love, but the story goes way beyond that. So much more.....It starts with a bang, then enter another and another. I was in tears, I wanted to punch Jeff, I fell in love with Dax and the whole family and thank God for Kathy. It was wonderfully full of angst and love and friendships and so many emotions that I was exhausted, but got through it. My only reason for not giving a five star is because of the ending. It just stopped for me. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad it happened - the outcome, but another chapter explaining some major unanswered what happens now about this and that is still left in the air. For me it wasn't enough of an ending to complete the story thoroughly. I wanted answers, I wanted perhaps some justice, maybe more on what happens to the other woman etc. The truth... still recommend this book.

I enjoy reading romances with an older female (over 30). She falls for a younger, successful man named Dax when he mistakenly heads to the place he built, but was rented to her. She ran away from her broken marriage, heartbreak, and loss of a career and ended up in New Mexico. It starts with her almost committing suicide in a moment of despair. That caught my attention. It also helped give depth to the story.Their romance was hot and sexy. It was also built on lies and omissions. Both could be immature and were hurt in other relationships. Their pain pasts made them relatable. Their differences added to the story as they were both successful, but in very different fields. He was mature, and definitely not a kid. She was immature at times, with more to learn, even though she was older than he.I really appreciated that he got the test done. This was not another romance where in the middle of sex they yell out,"I'm clean!" That can be so annoying.Also it was easy to fall for his family and see how different his mother and father's relationship was. Romance does not come in a one size fits all package. There were humorous and touching parts. I also liked that she was a foster kid who was still dealing with being unwanted and being made fun of. He identified more with his mother's side and spoke Spanish to his abuela.This was my first time reading a novel by this author. I would be interested in reading more by her.

I had to stay until three o'clock to finish this. It was wonderful to know that one can be a master at something without going to college. Harlow went to college and became a top surgeon but somehow it wasn't the happiness that she was looking for. Along came Dax. I loved where he lived and how he lived and his outlook on life. Wow did Harlow ever learn a lot from a noncollege person 13 years younger that her. Whom she first referred to as a boy and later changed to a man. What fun knowledge and what common sense knowledge that could fill a book. That's what I perceived it to be. Let go of those lofty ideas and ideals and love.

What a wonderfully sweet and sexy hot story. I loved Dax and Harlow's romance. The longer you live, and the older you get, you realize age means nothing in a relationship. I was glad to read a story that proved that.Another reason I enjoyed the story was the Earthship home. I've read about the off the grid homes in Taos, New Mexico for many years. It made for a very unique back ground in which to focus the story.Dax and Harlow have so much more than their age difference impeding their relationship. Harlow's divorce isn't final yet, so right from the start of their relationship, there are huge roadblocks. There is opposition from Dax's family from the beginning for all the above reasons. So being together seems doomed from the beginning.The story is all around refreshing, wonderfully written, and I encourage you to read this for yourself. You'll be glad you did.

If you love Vonnegut, of course you’ll love this. A lot of it will seem familiar, but who cares. A lot of it is repeated. Again, who cares? He is smart, witty, cynical, genius. If you don’t have everything by Vonnegut yet, this should not be at the top of your list, but once you've read everything by him and you want more, get it. It’s not Vonnegut at his best, but even when he’s mediocre, he’s better than most.

If you've read Vonnegut's fiction you won't find a lot new here but his graduation speeches do a good job of distilling his overall worldview. The speeches do repeat themselves a bit. Not to the point where you would say read one, read them all but enough that they echo each other. If you haven't read any Vonnegut and want a concise view into his opinions this is a great place to look. If you love his message as I do and want a book you can read to remind yourself of why you love his message this is a good book to have. My only caveat is that if you are well versed in Vonnegut you won't find much new here.

Great collection. Wry, wise, and funny. Love his line that those who want to post the Ten Commandments in public places never suggest that we post the Beatitudes.He quotes Twain that the object of life is for otherss to hold us in high regard. Lots of gems sprinkled througout. Good introuction by Dan Wakefiled. Oh the book's titile? When he and his uncle would hang put on a nice day, the uncle would look around and say, "if this isn't nice, what is?" A good mindset to live by.

My only wish is that I will receive Vonnegut’s advice when I graduate from college... Six more words are required.

Kurt Vonnegut was a wise and hilarious man, as well as a creative genius, so I was glad to read his graduation speeches. I found the formula a bit tiring after the first few speeches, but I did appreciate the chance to read some of Vonnegut's words of wisdom, and I have found myself saying, "If this isn't nice, what is?" all the time now!

I personally love Kurt Vonnegut. This particular volume is a collection of speeches given mostly at graduation ceremonies. While not as exciting as some of the recent releases since his death, this one is worth the cost if you are truly a Vonnegut nut. It does tend to repeat and there is really nothing totally exciting, but hey, this is Vonnegut and a must for a complete collection.

I had seen Vonnegut speak live many times. His timing, delivery, timbre of his voice, and sparkle in his eye was as much a part of the wisdom and humor as the words he spoke. Although I love hearing his speeches, hearing them in another's voice lessens their impact. They remind me of how much we need his gravelly, courageous voice. That said, the words still ring true and always worth hearing again.

Whenever I read anything written or said by Kurt Vonnegut one of two things happen. I smile or I ponder a deep thought. Come to think of it, both normally happen at the same time.

Absolutely necessary for CA Landlords. The companion book on Landlords Law Book: Rights & Responsibilities is great, too. I had to refer to it many times for more detail. If you are a landlord in CA who isn't using an attorney, get both!

Excellent. California specific Landlord law book.

This book has a major mistake which caused for my paperwork to be rejected by the court, and I had to refile. It costed me one week of a lost time. I am surprised to know that attorneys wrote this book, but obviously don't fully know all the law.

Didn’t really need it, all information was free online. Good reference book.
