If you have played Magic: The Gathering (MtG) at all, then do not waste your time. I am coming back to the game after 15+ years away in hopes of learning some of the new goodness that has developed since then. These books did not tell me anything that I did not know from my first time playing. And I read the whole thing in about 30 minutes.

I got to say I was disappointed. I was expecting a Much larger book with more in depth reading and information. This book is like 86 pages in amazingly huge print. For the amount of money that was spent for this book defiantly ripped off. Your giving magic a bad name by doing this. Don’t buy it! It’s not worth the money! You can find all this info for free on Magic’s website!

I received it and was extremely disappointed. I didn't even bother reading it. I have a tattered copy of the rules that goes back to the conception of magic that is way more informative then this book. I should have read the reviews before purchasing this and now I am out $8.00 to return it.

i expected this book to be more in depth and bigger than the thin comic book-sized book that i received...paid way to much for it, so sent it back. seller was prompt with giving me a full refund though, so it's a plus knowing that they honored that.

I just picked up this book on the kindle Eshop for $5 and I will say I got my money’s worth. I have only been playing magic for a few days and I wanted some point of ref and this book did a good job. I recommended for beginners like me. Or any one else wanting a quick refresher on magic

Not written very well and multiple grammatical errors through out. A good book for learning the basics of magic I do recommend it for new players. Price of 28$ is a tad steep for such a thin book. 13$ would be a good price.

This is an encyclopedia, and reading such things is not what most people, even when deeply interested in the subject are likely to do. It does provide a fair reference for specific topics, but this is not a subject one can really pick and choose.VAR is the ususal starting point, and its famous authors (one of whom I hired for his skill in these matters) cover most of the bases in an interesting way.

This is by far the most comprehensive and well-written book on risk management. If you were to read only on book on the subject, there is no doubt you should choose Crouhy, Galai, Mark. The book reflects not only the authors' serious academic background - all of them have been professors at top universities - but also their detailed hands-on experience.

I think it the best book about Risk management I read so far. I was impressed even by the way they treat market risk although it does not seem their main interest. The chapter on VaR is much better than a whole book on it. Great!!! Everyone should have a copy...

I bought this book because some readers highly recommended it. I'm a financial derivatives strategist and risk management consultant. When a reviewed the book I disappointed in five main particular points: 1) The chapter on VaR is unsatisfactory and insufficient. The authors discuss this subject in a general approach. From my view point I have a preference for Jorion's Value At Risk. 2) There is no discussion about GARCH models, which decrease the importance of this book. I recognise "Risk Management" is a great book. It's a vast encyclopaedia of risk. 3) There's a great discussion of all types of risk, but without any practical solved case. This particular point demerit the seriousness and greatness of the book. 4) The level of mathematics in the book is a little advanced and without any support en practical cases, these poor numerical exercises and calculus tools are useless. 5) Montecarlo simulation approach is bad. There is a great discussion on this subject in Hull's Options, Futures and other derivatives, where the theme is practical, objective and concise. Finally and taking into account these five particular disadvantages, I'll give my rating to this book: 3 stars.

It covers both the regulatory and practitioner perspectives of modern risk management -- it's a veritable encyclopedia.It's drawn from the wealth of experience of the authors, who are well known in both the academic world and on Wall St.I guess what I like most about the book is the inside look it provides at the various aspects of financial risks -- no other book does it better, and I found the discussion enthralling.While mainly geared toward banks, the book also includes a fascinating chapter on risk management in regular corporations. I think the book would serve equally well as a textbook for a risk management course or a handbook for the risk management practitioner.

This book is a most systematic and comprehensive overview of modern financial risk management with an emphasis on banking. It is an encyclopedia of risk, including both regulatory and practitioner viewpoints. The book is based on the rich experience of the team of authors, who are well known in both the academic world and Wall Street. It provides an inside look at many aspects of financial risks including market, credit, liquidity and operational risks. The book is mainly oriented toward banks, but it also includes a very interesting chapter on risk management in nonbank corporations. The book is well suited to be a textbook for a course as well as a handbook for a market professional. Very interesting and highly recommended.

I work in the area of Risk Management for over 8 years and I find this book still covers a lot of what someone in the area needs to know. I think it is rather a reference book, better written than the Bessis book on RM in banking and covering more things on Credit Risk, but still ... it is not a book one can read from start to end. It is good to keep on the shelf and read a chapter on a specific topic when necessary.

I have another book by this author “I am a little tiger” and love it so we wanted to get another animal but when it arrived it is a miniature size of the original.

Darling little book.

I bought this for my two year old grandson who loves alligators. I didn't even give him the book. It is not sturdy and is quite small, too tiny for a two year old's hands. I shall save it for later.

A collection of "obvious" texts "proving" their position is presented, assertions are made and the other side is left feeling quite unsatisfied.The feeling is either that the other side has deliberately stayed away from certain parts of scripture in order to maintain their theological paradigm, or that the texts being presented in support of one's side are taken largely out of context. Which of course leaves both parties going away feeling no different than when the discussion started.Not so with this book. I believe both sides will feel adequate attention has been made to the entire discussion, regardless of what side you fall on.I've been following Dr. Lennox' work for sometime now and I've always been impressed by his intellectual honesty, humility and love for the Word of God. So when I saw this book it was an instant purchase for me and it did not disappoint.In the way that is so unique to him, John goes over the history of this discussion, texts that are commonly used to support determinism, an in depth study of the gospel of John chapters 6-10, Romans 9-11 and much more.As already mentioned, I believe both sides will feel satisfied by the end of this book. I have been a Christian for 45 years and have struggled for about 10 years with the teaching on election, when I saw it for the first time in the footnotes of a new John McArthur Bible. I was so stunned, so horrified, and I just couldn’t believe this was there all the time, and I hadn’t seen it. I talked to people who know their Bible, read a book on why this is true, and felt my heart sinking as it appeared they were right. I never have been able to feel comfortable with this doctrine, but if it were true, and if it’s of God, of course I had to accept it.After reading John Lennox's book, my heart is light again because of his clear explanation on this subject. He looks at the Big Picture, analyzes every instance of these verses that appear to teach that God chooses some for Heaven and some for eternal hell. Someone said that if he had thought this about God, he would never have become a Christian. I agree. How could anyone “admire”, much less love, a God who allowed people to be born who were doomed from the start and never had a chance to know Jesus? Now I don’t care what anyone else says or thinks, my pastor included (and he is a Ph.D. Bible scholar), I now have Mr. Lennox's interpretation, and I believe it is the truth.Thank you, John Lennox, for this in-depth examination of the doctrine of determinism/election. You have set my heart free again.

Dr. John Lennox is a highly valued teacher and author of several books, he has outstanding credentials. However, this maybe the first he has written which has such controversial subject matter. I will be frank, when reading this book there were times Iwas disturb at the quotes yet to his credit, he tries to strip away denominational lines and seek a scriptural based responsesto the subject matter of theistic determinism, salvation by faith or by regeneration, and the subject of man's free will.Methodically he goes into the deep divides that others would only fear to tread. This was not an easy book to write, yet I could not put the book down. I would recommend it to any believer who desires to expand his knowledge base of the conflict betweenmodern day believers. Dr. Lennox has done an outstanding job of respectfully representing these issues with logic and intelligence.

Lennox clearly discriminates between compatibilist free will as defined by those such as Jonathon Edwards, as not conscious of coercion yet nevertheless bound by necessity, from a will that has the real power to choose otherwise. Lennox defends the latter view, and if the former view is correct, then freedom is essentially a meaningless term. Whether one agrees with Lennox or not, his case is cogently and fairly presented.

Professor Lennox wields the sword of God in this new book, "Determined to Believe." Using God's word Lennox reasons together with the reader. Precept upon precept and line upon line he uses scripture and impeccable logic to answer the questions people will discuss until the last day. Where there appears to be a paradox of mankind's free will and God's predestination, Lennox reveals there is in fact perfect harmony. Over the centuries, Satan has cast shadows with false doctrine. By using God's word, professor Lennox illuminates the dark corners and the devil flees. Lennox is a master swordsman!

John Lennox is an amazing follower of Christ. His ability to address potentially contentious matters with respect and courteously is unmatched. This book is worth every minute spent reading it whether one fully agrees or not. He is convincing without being dogmatic and without personal attacks against those whose views he is addressing. There are very few intelligent gentlemen such as Dr. Lennox among us anymore. His treatise is top notch and understandable by anyone with a desire to truly learn and consider.

THE NEAR WITCH seems different than her other works. As her first novel, THE NEAR WITCH is smaller, a more intimate story. Her characters don't quite have the complexity she is now known for, but you can see the beginnings of everything to come. Lexi is stubborn and filled with angst and conviction. She's the character you want to root for. Cole's mystery is what seems compelling. The love story is alright, but it is secondary to the overall conflict.There are many themes throughout: family, love, acceptance, isolation. Everything is brought together well but unexceptionally.What truly sets this book apart is the absolutely gorgeous writing and amazing setting/atmosphere. Schwab has a lyrical storytelling quality that makes you feel the grass of the moors at your feet, see the wind blown trees, and connect with the natural rhythm and beauty of Near just like Lexi does. This has become one of my favorite books for the writing alone.THE NEAR WITCH is one of those hauntingly beautiful books you should crack open on a blustery, rainy night. It is subtle, quiet, and unimposing, but settles around you like a comfortable blanket. There is something familiar in the tale of witches and young love that makes this simple story a treat to experience. I have a feeling I'm going to read this book again and again.

This review is for the audio narration only, not the story or writing. I liked her accent but she had no intonation. She was reading each sentence like a line on a list, I could barely get through 10 minutes and had to return it. I will just read this on my own, because the story seemed interesting. Is disappointing that they didn’t choose a better narrator.

I opened this gorgeous book, read the first paragraph, and, friends, I’m not exaggerating when I tell you I gave the loudest, most wistful sigh. I was home. Victoria’s writing was just as gorgeous then as it is now, and frankly, if you don’t like rambling “gush” reviews, you might as well close this now, because I just want to get emotional and cry at you all a little over how much this story meant to me.First, this setting? Flawlessly atmospheric. Never once does the plot or character development suffer for the sake of setting, but I felt so sucked into the town of Near that I could practically smell and feel and hear the moor, right here. I adored every moment well-spent on the grassy hills, the rain, the stones under Lexi’s feel, the old hut the Sisters lived in; it was all so wonderful and poetic.But when I say this story meant something to me personally,friends, I’m talking about the incredible care Victoria took while crafting these witches. If you ask any pagan or craft-practicing person, they’ll tell you that we’re not used to being painted in such a nuanced light, but here, that’s what I got, and it was wonderful.Now, I won’t spoil the story by saying if the witches are good or bad, or both, but what I’ll say is that there’s a pair of characters—two elderly sisters, who the town is convinced are old witches with no access to the powers of their youth—and they meant everything to me. I’m a sucker for the elderly mentor characters, regardless, but these women, despite being spurned by the town of Near for simply existing, spend their time crafting wards and blessings for the people who abuse them, and something about that just made me downright emotional. The idea that they could be so complex, and that they would continue to take care of people who didn’t deserve their empathy—that’s everything I didn’t know I needed from Magda and Dreska.The witches weren’t the only characters I adored, though; Lexi and Cole are both incredible in their own rights, but there were quiet, secret, ordinary heroes, too, in Lexi’s mother and her late father. I loved the stories from her dad, and I was cheering every time her mother stepped up to help her or protect her.I just fell so ridiculously in love with so many of the citizens of Near, just like I always do with V’s characters, and I never wanted to leave them. I feel like The Near Witch is the sort of story I’m going to reach for over and over again, for years to come. It is the most gorgeous kind of fairytale, yet it feels like the kind of thing that’s just odd enough to be real, and I mean it when I tell you that this was easily one of the best books I’ve read all year, and will undoubtedly go down as one of my favorite books, period.

I am enormously impressed that this novel was Victoria Schwab's debut. No wonder she's been so successful since. This is one gifted, wildly creative, compelling author.Awaiting the reader: a three-dimensional, compelling protagonist and other well-drawn characters; deft world building; various YA elements; and enough suspense that I (a wimp in that regard) had to stop reading every couple of pages, toward the end, and go do something less exciting before I could come back and read some more.Oh, and in reference to the Acknowledgments: when is Schwab going to keep her promise and write that menopausal art school coven book? I want to read it!

An excellent early book by a wonderful writer. Sure, for someone familiar with her work, it is, at some points, apparent that this *was* her first published piece and so perhaps not as complex and refined as her others, HOWEVER, that IN NO WAY detracts from the overall quality of this book. It is a well-written story with engaging characters and imagery themed to the dull earthy greys and browns of the moor. Such a unique story! Schwab has always had the gift to transport readers to another world.

Wow!!! Finally a comprehensive, in-depth, well thought out, and accurate road map for those of us who love Bonham and have been trying for years to learn as much as possible about his playing techniques. For years I thought I was playing a lot of Zeppelin tunes accurately and decided to purchase this book to see if I was missing anything... and I was! I've been going through, song-by-song, and re-learning many of these grooves and can hear / feel a tremendous improvement above what I was doing before. It has also become a really fun way to ramp up my practicing which, after 25 years, definitely needs a kick. In my opinion, this is the definitive & only guide available for Bonham fans.

Love the detail of this book, but now I am ashamed to admit how many Bohnam grooves and chops I have been playing wrong for the last 20 years. LOL.I am having a lot of fun working my way through each song so as to play them exactly as they were played by the genious himself. For any drummers playing Zeppelin covers, fans of Bonham or any drummer at all for that matter, this book is a must.

Are you really a rock drummer? You cannot call yourself a "rock" drummer without learning from the Master Rock Drummer, the one who draw the charts of rock drumming, John Bonham. He is The One we are looking up to, compared to, and in our subconscious minds want to play and sound like, admit it!This book is our bible and should be part of our study at all times, lest we risk to be called dilettantes or clowns masquerading as rock drummers.

You won't know just how good John Bonham was until you read some of the transcriptions in this book. Even if you are an EXPERT drummer, you're in for a real eye opener. This book will humble you.

Compared to other sheet music books, this one had a nice plus - the commentary by the author in front of each Zeppelin album, giving some insight as to what Bonham did, how you might think of styling the piece, etc... Not alot of words, one paragraph per song, but I found it useful.The transcriptions show alot more notes than I remember hearing, so I went back and listened to alot of the songs and I conclude that the author really took care in being careful to get as close to possible as to what was recorded. This is the second edition, it seems, revised in 2005.Fwiw, I am not a pro drummer by any means.

I bought this as a secret santa xmas gift for a difficult to buy for son in law. He raved about it all day and proudly displayed it on Facebook as 'best Christmas present ever'. So I guess it was a hit.....

Joe Bergamini did a great job on this book. The best Zeppelin song book out there. Nice bright pages and well constructed, it features not only easy to read song translation, but wonderful pictures and comments for every song.I like how he described Custard Pie as having apartly swing feel. Seminal work!

I give this collection only one star. 90% of the stories were rather ridiculus. The writing felt like a bad translation into English. Characters were inconsistent and came across as unlikable. The storylines were rather uneven, the main characters appeared rather stupid an whiny. The Amish stories were were slightly better, but not enough to make the collection worth buying. If you think buying these books, don't waste your money.

I loved the historical romance stories in this collection. I am a sucker for mail order bride stories! Although I have read a lot of them, I still enjoy reading about the quandaries the ladies find themselves in and the courage it takes to make such a change. It is an enduring theme. Annie Boone is the master of these stories!I enjoyed the Regency romances too. Kelly Ann Bruce tells a good story.This collection will keep you entertained for many hours! You won't be disappointed!

This a twenty book collection of sweet romances. I enjoyed all but the Amish romances, but I have a certain bigotry against stories about the Amish, not the Amish themselves. These stories are best taken one at a time and I wish I had done that instead of reading strait through. I would have enjoyed them more.

This was 20 different stories. They were all well written. If you like clean stories then you will love these stories.

Each author was good in their own story telling. The different genres mixed together was also a plus. Usually I do not care for Amish stories but these were quite good.

Clean, sweet romance and each story is a quick read. I highly recommend them!

Slow,hard to follow. I didn't finish it! Sorry.😕 The characters were not real. The plots needed help. I tried several times to read these books but lost interest.
